Get ready for a romantic afternoon of intimate chamber music written for oboe and piano. Fans of romantic-era French composer Gaubert and German composer Widor will be delighted with the especially beautiful, hand-picked programme. Jessica West's (piano) delicate touch and Carin Bam's (Oboe) sweetly lyrical melodies will serenade you into a peaceful afternoon. Carin studied Sergei Burdukov at the University of Stellenbosch where she earned a BMus, before gaining her Performance Licentiate cum laude from UNISA and is currently sub-principal oboe and cor anglais for CPO. She has played in many orchestras including the ECPO, KZNPO, the Namibian National Symphony Orchestra, the FS Symphony, UCT Symphony and US Symphony, as well as Camerata Tinta Barocca and also as ad hoc for the CPO. She is also a keen chamber musician, having had her own duo with guitarist UIiano Marchio, and was a member of the Cardea and Trio Argentum Ligno ensembles. She is currently a member of Intonga Reed Quintet.
Jess graduated from Stellenbosch University (MMus - 2019), having specialized in piano solo and ensemble performance. She works as a collaborative pianist, rehearsal pianist, pit musician and assistant musical director in musical theatre. Her musical theatre career includes Phantom of the Opera (2011), Stage by Stage (2015), Stage by Stage II (2015), Evita (2017), Sound of Music (2018) and Matilda - The Musical (2018-2020)
