Elinor Batteries has signed an MoU with SINTEF Research Group to open a sustainable, giga-scale factory in mid-Norway, and HREINN will manufacture 2.5 to 5 million GWh batteries annually using lithium iron phosphate (LiFeP04) technology. With dozens of massive new lithium-ion battery factories planned or already under construction in Europe, Panasonic and Equinor are investigating the potential for a "green battery business" in Norway.
