How many solar power plants are there in Hungary?

This is no surprise, as according to the statistics of the Hungarian Energy and Public Utility Regulatory Authority (HEPURA), by the end of 2017 nearly 30.000 small 'non-subject to authorization' solar power plants were installed with the capacity of 241 MW while in 2018 an additional 10.750 units were built with an additional 82 MW.

How has the photovoltaic market changed in Hungary?

Since then not even 3 years has passed and the shape of the photovoltaic market has drastically changed in Hungary, just like globally too. According to the IRENE research, the prices of panels and by that, complete PV systems has been dropped to 1/4th of the price compared to 2010.

How much solar is installed in Hungary?

HEPURA revealed Hungary’s installed PV capacity grew from around 726 MW at the end of last year (in 2018) to approximately 1,144 MW at the end of June 2019. The approximately 418 MW of solar added in the first half of this year surpassed the 411 MW which came online in the whole of 2018.

Where is solar-market located in Hungary?

Moving to the Western part of Hungary, Solar-markt has a portfolio of 4 plants (Csepreg, Vép, Kőszeg, Söjtör) with 16 MW capacity, MOL, the Hungarian oil and gas company runs 3 projects (Füzesgyarmat, Tiszaújváros, Százhalombatta) with 18.4 MW and just the other side of the street of Százhalombatta refinery, MET operates a 17.6 MW plant.
