Austria has chosen to prohibit permanent geological storage of carbon dioxide with very few exceptions ( Federal Act Prohibiting Geological Storage of Carbon Dioxide) and to evaluate international experience with CCS in five-year intervals. As legally required, the prohibition of CCS is currently in the evaluation phase of the five-year cycle.

Is the EU Regulation 1215/2012 enforceable in Austria?
Additionally, the EU Regulation 1215/2012 (Brussels I Regulation) is directly applicable in Austria. The regulation provides that judgments in commercial and civil matters rendered in other EU Member States shall be recognised and enforceable in Austria without “any special procedure” or “declaration of enforceability” being required.
